President’s Volunteer Service Award: Recognizing Dedication

At Mallakhamb Federation USA (MFU), we take immense pride in achieving the prestigious status of a Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). This remarkable accolade, established in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, underscores the crucial role volunteers play in shaping the strength and identity of America.

The Essence of PVSA

The PVSA serves as a beacon of recognition for extraordinary individuals dedicated to a high level of volunteerism and service. These individuals work tirelessly to tackle the most challenging issues within their communities and our nation, leaving an indelible positive impact and inspiring others to follow suit.

What PVSA Offers

In partnership with AmeriCorps and Points of Light, PVSA allows Certifying Organizations like MFU to honor their exceptional volunteers. Based on volunteer hours, Certifying Organizations can choose from various forms of recognition, including the official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, coin, or medallion, a personalized certificate of achievement, and a letter signed by the President of the United States of America.

Why Choose PVSA?

For MFU, PVSA provides a unique platform to acknowledge the selfless volunteers who are the bedrock of our organization’s growth and stability. Their unwavering dedication propels our cause forward.

Additionally, PVSA benefits our volunteers, especially our junior students, by allowing them to accumulate valuable volunteering hours that enhance their resumes for college and university admissions.

Our Journey to Certification

MFU’s pursuit of PVSA Certifying Organization status was led by Mr. Rahul Joshi, drawing on his experience with volunteer organizations. Our application underwent rigorous assessment, verifying our eligibility. After meticulous evaluation, MFU proudly received formal confirmation as a Certifying Organization.

Sustaining Our CO Status

To maintain our Certifying Organization status, MFU is committed to:

  • Keeping precise records of volunteering hours that can withstand scrutiny.
  • Completing an annual recertification course to ensure continued CO status.

Who Qualifies for PVSA and Who Can Award PVSA Hours?

PVSA is available to:

  • United States citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders).
  • Individuals aged at least five years old.
  • Those completing eligible service within specified timeframes.

Eligible service includes unpaid acts of volunteer service benefiting others, with some exceptions.

Only a Certifying Organization has the authority to award volunteer hours and apply for PVSA on behalf of volunteers, ensuring that the required criteria are met.
We, at Mallakhamb Federation USA, are deeply honored to be a PVSA Certifying Organization. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to celebrating exceptional service within our community. Together, we inspire positive change, fortify our communities, and contribute to the betterment of our nation through the power of service.
