President’s Volunteer Service Award: Recognizing Dedication
The Essence of PVSA
What PVSA Offers
In partnership with AmeriCorps and Points of Light, PVSA allows Certifying Organizations like MFU to honor their exceptional volunteers. Based on volunteer hours, Certifying Organizations can choose from various forms of recognition, including the official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, coin, or medallion, a personalized certificate of achievement, and a letter signed by the President of the United States of America.
Why Choose PVSA?
Additionally, PVSA benefits our volunteers, especially our junior students, by allowing them to accumulate valuable volunteering hours that enhance their resumes for college and university admissions.
Our Journey to Certification
Sustaining Our CO Status
To maintain our Certifying Organization status, MFU is committed to:
- Keeping precise records of volunteering hours that can withstand scrutiny.
- Completing an annual recertification course to ensure continued CO status.
Who Qualifies for PVSA and Who Can Award PVSA Hours?
PVSA is available to:
- United States citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders).
- Individuals aged at least five years old.
- Those completing eligible service within specified timeframes.
Eligible service includes unpaid acts of volunteer service benefiting others, with some exceptions.
Only a Certifying Organization has the authority to award volunteer hours and apply for PVSA on behalf of volunteers, ensuring that the required criteria are met.
We, at Mallakhamb Federation USA, are deeply honored to be a PVSA Certifying Organization. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to celebrating exceptional service within our community. Together, we inspire positive change, fortify our communities, and contribute to the betterment of our nation through the power of service.
